CONSERVATIVE ANGLICAN
SEMINARY
PROVIDES EXTERNAL STUDIES PROGRAM
Cummins Theological Seminary, a seminary of the Reformed Episcopal
Church, based in Summerville, South Carolina, has a newly appointed Dean
of its External Studies Program. Rev. Dr. Douglas B. Mills brings with
him twenty plus years of pastoral experience as well as over eighteen
years in the arena of Christian education. The external studies program
which he heads provides a complete program of studies for those studying
for the Anglican priesthood. A Bachelor of Theology program is provided
for students who do not possess a college degree, and a Master of
Divinity is available for those who are college graduates. The design of
the External Studies Program is clear: a reformed school of
theology returning to the roots of historical Christianity, built on the
requirements for ordination in the Anglican tradition. The External
Studies Program seeks to ground the student in the teaching of the Holy
Scripture, as that teaching has been interpreted by the early Church
Fathers and the English Reformers, and as that teaching has been given
flesh within the liturgical tradition of the historic Church. For those
not able to attend a residence program of theological instruction, this
program is ideal. It is an easy program, and will require commitment,
dedication and long hours of reading and writing. The staff of the
external studies department stands ready to assist you in making this a
successful program of study.
Future plans for the External Studies Program include Christian
Education degrees designed for those desiring to work in Christian
schools, as well as Research Doctoral programs for those holding Master
of Divinity or Master of Theology degrees.
