The Rev. Canon David C. Anderson

President & C.E.O., American Anglican Council

The Rev. Canon David C. Anderson is recognized around the world for his passionate commitment to traditional Anglican teaching and theology. He has served since 2001 as President and C.E.O. of the American Anglican Council (AAC) based in Atlanta, GA.

His leadership gained national and international recognition in 2003 when the AAC emerged as the leading voice for Anglican orthodoxy in the United States after the Episcopal Church USA (ECUSA) adopted theological and doctrinal innovations contrary to the teaching of Holy Scripture, particularly concerning matters of human sexuality. ECUSA’s actions created an historic crisis in the 70 million-member Anglican Communion and thrust Canon Anderson into the role of chief spokesman for faithful American Anglicans who desire to uphold the historic faith and order of the church.

Ordained in 1970, Canon Anderson served parishes in Maryland; Montana; Wyoming; South Dakota; and most recently in California as long-term rector of St. James Church in Newport Beach, where he led the congregation through significant growth in numbers, influence, and extensive building programs. He is a key figure for the reformation movement in the Episcopal Church and a sought-after speaker on the crisis in all denominations over the decline in biblically-based theology and moral authority. Canon Anderson receives frequent requests from the secular and religious media for comment on trends in the Anglican Communion. He travels extensively for the AAC and is in regular conversation with global Anglican leaders.

Canon Anderson holds a Bachelor’s Degree in History from the University of Maryland and a Master in Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary. He is married to MaryAnne Kemp, and he is a proud father and grandfather of three children and four grandchildren. They reside in suburban Atlanta.
