He was educated at Clifton College in Bristol, gained first class degrees both at Oxford (Classics) and Cambridge (Theology) where he also gained University prizes and a Cambridge BD (senior to a Ph.D). He holds an honorary and an earned D.D. He is an evangelical Anglican and was for 10 years adviser in evangelism to the two English Archbishops. His main jobs have been lecturer in New Testament at London College of Divinity, Principal of St. John’s College Nottingham, Rector of St. Aldate’s Church Oxford, Professor of Evangelism and New Testament at Regent College Vancouver, and Senior Research Fellow at Wycliffe Hall, Oxford University. He has extensive evangelistic and teaching experience in each of the five continents over many years. He has written over 50 books, including But Don’t All Religions Lead to God?, Evangelism in the Early Church, Thirty Years That Changed the World, Sharing Your Faith with a Friend, Critical Choices, Who is This Jesus?, I Believe in the Holy Spirit, and The Empty Cross of Jesus. According to Canon Green, "I am pretty colourblind denominationally! And I am still a learner!" His wife Rosemary is a wise counsellor and a good teacher, and she has had much experience of charismatic renewal in churches and individuals. |
