Shari was born to a Wycliffe missionary family in rural Guatemala. The 6th of 8 children, she experienced first-hand all the joys and challenges of living overseas, including going away to boarding school. After returning to the U.S. to finish school, Shari married Jim Hobby and was happy to put away her missionary career and do something "normal." Twenty years of marriage and three daughters later, she too was ordained an Anglican priest in 2000, and was surprised to find God calling her to become the Member Care Director for Global Teams. Her life experience growing up came around full circle as she was able to offer to other missionary families the kind of care she could have used herself. Shari and Jim, along with their daughter Elizabeth Joy are transitioning from Global Teams into a new mission in Tallahassee called Ethne Mission Networking and Equipping. Shari is also on staff part-time at St. Peter's, Tallahassee and recently helped form THPM (Tallahassee Healing Prayer Ministries), which offers healing ministry across denominational lines. Her daughters are Elizabeth Joy (22), Katherine Marie (19) and Angela Grace (15). |
